Travelbeard
loses a champion. Travel Beard has lost recently lost of member of the international Travel Beard family as Joan passed away in December. Joan appeared donning the orange beard in May's Beard of the Month Contest from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, posing with her close friend and travel buddy, Dorothy and five time Travel Beard winner Kyle, proving that it's never too late to tackle new experiences, make new friends and travel exotically. When asked to participate in Travel Beard, Joan and Dorothy both did so willingly and enthusiastically, braving the ignuanas and documenting their travel adventure, resulting in a victory in that month's contest that was simply the icing on the cake. More importantly, they had fun doing it, and both exhibited a spirit and openness that we can all only aspire to match in our travels. Whereas Travel Beard is a fun way to come together as a travel community with some healthy competition, Joan's spirit reminds us about the pure magic of travel, the importance of experiences, the eternity that memories last and the majestic and prolific effect that can be had when an open mind experiences new places and people. Our condolences rest with Joan's family and friends, and her memory will be honoured by continuing the quest of travel, the adventure of experiences and the blessing of opportunity. Dr. Kyle Kelbert |

Knitware
beards are the new black! As some of the regular bearders may have noticed, I often wear a luxury knitted beard made from angora wool. Well I have stumbled accross this website which takes the knitware false beard to a whole new level. www.wifeofbrian.com is well worth a look and she also has links to her shop so you too can own your own knitted beard. |

CELEB
BEARD Jonathan Ross refused to actually wear he Travelbeard but kindly posed with said Travelbeard. Really I think he was concerned for the safety of the beard as he could see the envy in Peter Jones' eyes at being asked to be pictured first. He clearly didn't want this to become a tug-o-beard and risk damaging the Angora wool luxuy beard. |

Travelbearders
and Cetaceans do mix! Planetwhale.com proves it! It was believed that these two animal groups could never coexist side by side, but thanks to groundbreaking research performed by Ian and Dylan of www.planetwhale.com it is in fact the opposite. Over many years Ian and Dylan have been slowly introducing false facial hair to the Whales and Dolphins in the Bay of Biscay. They started out sporting small pencil moustache and slowly progressed through Handlebar, Goatee and the chinstrap beard, to the point that they can now wear a full-on bushy travelbead in the presence of species such s the Finn Whale, Cuvier's Beaked Whale and Common Dolphin. Ian and Dylan run a series of tours Whale and Dolphin watching in the Bay of Biscay, details of wich can be found at www.planetwhale.com. In addition they will also be intorducing Travelbeards to Wolves in northern Spain on a new |
